Yeah, yeah, it is that time of the year.

Looking at the mirror I see the same me, a bit more white hair, tense lines added on to forehead, now eyes need glasses to read- but yes the same me. Definitely Older, not necessarily wiser.

I stare at myself questioning what will my resolutions be for this year, sure that they will not survive long. I have too many possible things to base a resolution. That means I will have too many of them or none. Sample list

  • No more cigarettes
  • Moderate drinking ( Even writing to say stop drinking was an effort )
  • Leaving non-veg
  • BOWIM: Blogging only when I must ( and sure I am not going to make that my resolution )
  • SSR- social site rationalisation
  • PGO- Peer group optimisation
  • JWRSE- Job work  relationship satisfaction evaluation
  • LTMASEE- Long term monetary and social equity enhancement
  • GF1DAW: Give the family at least 1 day a week
  • WOLBOL; When on leave be on leave ( One of the toughest with the responsibilities attached to work profile )
  • Being rational logical and unbiased

Why make resolutions if they are meant to be broken.

Truth is resolutions are meant to be kept. It just needs willpower and our efforts.

Resolutions are the promise we make to ourselves. They are mostly made under family, friends, peer and such pressure. Unfortunately we try reassure ourselelf by making public announcement. The pressure builds on us to keep our words. Now we do not care about the resolutions made, we do not expect others to take them seriously. Is that how strong we are.

  • Hold for a moment.
  • Ask if breaking a promise made to you not a sign of weakness.
  • Evaluate.
  • Take yourself and your life seriously.
  • Be selfish.
  • For a change do not announce your resolutions.
  • Creates process of reminders- you can pre-designate them.
  • Create an incentive programme (yes, bribe yourself).
  • Make only one or two resolution- it is a question of focus and then it becomes easier to stand by them.

So here I close and yes I am not announcing resolution that I have made to myself. Hopefully (why such pessimism) I will be able to adhere (not keep) with them.

Don’t tell me your resolution; I have no role in helping you keep them.

Who is to be blamed for the things that are destined to happen? Helpless as usual I just brood over the incident. Humiliating it may sound. But the beer makes it acceptable with few chicken legs.

It was one of those perfect Sundays. In-fact the last Sunday of 2009. I was at home, with early breakfast and beer stock checked to last 100 over I took guard before the flat screened TV allowing 178 degree vision. I cautioned family not to interrupt me. Switched on TV, I was expecting another of the high scoring games.

Wow, Sri Lankan was at sea, Dhoni as expected called correct and put visitors on to bat. I knew that match will not last 100 over’s but I was willing to compromise at sat 60-70 over in total for an Indian Win. Wow, this was pre-noon session- so with the mist at Ferozshah Kotla- the tea at home tasted better.

5th ODI, India and Sri-lanka. I followed each of the balls and felt there was something special in the match. Indian Bowling looking far better than what it has been for the last 4 matches What had changed? The early morning cold of Delhi and the knotted grass pitch. Yes odd balls dropped dead and few rose from the good length- hugely unplayable- but then the international cricketers are expected to play in such conditions. It was just 8 balls of 139 balls- that are some 6% balls which were difficult. With sun coming up the pitch would have hardened and become better to bat- or so the wisdom said.

139th ball bowled by Amit Tyagi; Srilanka calls for Match to be abandoned. Match referee agrees- Indian Captain it seems was ready to play on- but at the end of it Thousands of angry fans destroyed the stadium property. So is Amit Tyagi a good bowler, did Zaheer find his swing—or it was just the simple pitch.

I as a viewer who had rescheduled all work, worked late at night to complete all pending work, fought with family to refuse an outing to market. Rough weather all around and the Match is called off. How will I be compensated? I must like a cricket lover spend some more time in discussing this with friends. And maybe this deserves a blog. So here we are.

Chetan Chouhan said rightly ‘resignations’ are not the solution. Chetan Sharma said this was disgraceful. Yeah I agree Sangkara should not have called his tem after 23 over. Most likely the grounds man will be one who will be crucified for this. Was he given enough money, enough time and freedom to work? It’s the same city; our capital which is getting ready for the commonwealth games and the same city that is to host a few of the matches in world cup.

Maybe we need new rules in cricket while matches are played in India. Trust we can surprise ourselves with our mediocrity. It’s not Delhi- it can happen anywhere- anywhere where there is a culture of Adjust- Chalta Hai- Ho Jayega and last minute changes in schedule. It will continue to happen till the time stadiums are used more for the political function or religious ceremonies than for the games. Would this been the case if cricket was being regularly played in FK.

This is not the first and will not be the last time. As there is really no punishment an example to be demonstrated. They will fight and through the political will for the future in mind- we will ADJUST and Delhi will play the world cup matches. Delhi team though will play at Palam ground. I do not think that a pitch becomes difficult or dangerous after quarter of the match is over. If it’s dangerous it’s dangerous at the start. With this precedent teams from outside will be willing to use this option- more so when the series has already been decided. Would this option remain only with the team batting first or even the team that is chasing total? We have shown how easy it is for a match to be abandoned.

So RULE 1- Maximum and minimum number of balls- that should could would be played before and after which the pitch cannot be called dangerous. RULE –II, take the interest of the captains out from this. It should just be Umpires are they not the one who decide on the light- rain and other playing conditions. RULE –III, a Captain can only voice his dangerous pitch objection only once in a match. If rejected he must lose the appeal for that match. A captain that loses such an appeal cannot appeal for dangerous pitch for the next 10 matches. The captain who has to bat next must fully endorse the appeal. RULE IV. International matches only to be played where some local – zonal matches have been played in a predefined period. RULE V Play match on next available strip- of a shorter version. And similarly action defined for audience. Refund of Money Plus travel. Ban the venue and the state association from holding games

I know the above sounds very impractical but boss I am the aggrieved party the viewer who has to fight many a battles to have the control of the remote. It cost me to send wife and kids out for a movie and shopping – just to be able to watch the match. And when the match does not happen, I have every reason to crib.

Well BLOG is an addictive habit. I have till date not really narrowed on the subject that I plan to write and create. I am not aiming to create a niche Blog but a general interest blog, where hopefully I will be able to be of some help and provide directional input- seek directions and inputs and create something that all of us enjoy reading. Dreams; yes I like dreams; I like to see dreams being realized. When I come across such news- I try to avoid till the fingers find their ways and words form on the screen pouting my point of view- giving birth to another blog entry from someone simple at heart.

Finally having watched and most of the episode, I was afraid that I will have a vacuum after this show finishes in my TV viewing.

The show moved up the viewer’s interest early and then slipped in the viewing pleasure at the end. This is sampling size -1 not the TRP or any-other such figures. In BIG BOSS-3, there has something that never seemed right. The dice seemed to be overloaded and decisions pre-arrived (must not be the truth). I was fortunately on train and it was not possible for me to watch the final episode. The  ODI insured that much before I could watch the re-run before news channels  told me of the result.

I will most likely not be watching BIG BOSS-4 .

Like lot many fans in India I was willing to accept PRAVESH as winner or even POONAM. Vindu winning has been an anticlimax. The DESH KA ADESH seems to have been compromised. I look back at Vindu’s confidence from start pointing to some deal that may have been in place.  May is the operating world. More I talk with public and more I see the surprise in their voice. I fail to understand his win. Who would have been voting for him?

We recall his statement  when Bhaktiyar left with 10 lac ‘ Bhaktiyar is also saving 2-3 lac that he would have to spend in sending SMS’ shows the nexus and the non-reality of reality show.  His fear of losing only to RAJU and post Raju departure - supreme confidence. But, always under the façade of Desh Ka Adesh it now sounds as if there was something he was guilty of.

No I never voted in the show- other than once when I voted Bhaktiyar. But where is the reality in the whole game. There is nothing that is shared- neither the % split total votes or even the gap between winner and loser. So, we who are voting do not know how it is working. Are we going to be always associated with such voting and nominations? Maybe it’s time that the viewers force the channels to start sharing the voting details  And ( not or )  the shows move to a stage have a Phone number identifier so that from one-number only 1 or say for the family 5 votes could per episodes?

Impractical advice as SMS is the source of revenue. They may in-fact gain from lowering the normal SMS rates as the voter does not relate to premium rates while voting.  And maybe instead of TRP the votes could be a better indication of the reality show popularity. Maybe this data is more easy to authenticate and still easier to corruption- but the moment you have one phone number 1 vote- along with break-up available on areas of voting- pattern of voting- it will be great input to the viewer- planners and programmers. More so the amount of consumer behaviour pattern that could be just available for analysis. God what all we are being kept away from?

These opinion are stated as a viewer and are totally personal feelings

It took me about a month (give or take a week) to read the 392 pages book. It is not meant to say if the book was gripping enough but lot to say about the time I am able to find for the book. But then yesterday the journey from Mumbai to Jabalpur allowed me time to read through the last 192 pages.

The book is simply woven around layers of close-knit incidents.  But surprisingly it never pushes you to try getting to the end or urge you to just read the next few pages. It’s placid and not apt for the instant gratification disco led fast lane mindset of current readers.

In the author’s note I realise that it’s not her first novel. She has been writing since 1995 and trust me I will not be picking the books titled ‘ A turbulent Passage’, ‘Minds on fire’- the two other novels by her or ‘Finding your spiritual centre’ &’ transforming your mind’ her work on Jain philosophy. I know when the dedication page says ‘For all those who kept faith with me’. In FALLOUT you can feel the architect in the author, the spaces and the buildings she refers are clear in the readers scope. The gates, the lawns, the outhouse, the new building, the lift cage and you do live through the spaces where something called a story is being paraded.

Now that I am over with the warning as I see the author staring through crossword and the airport - railway station book stalls. We move to the story.

It is in sequence a biographical sounding book (not sure if that is the case) but it does give a feel of it. The characters are well constructed – the incidents take you through the turmoil that Kaveri faces in her life. The relationships sound so real even when shown as a network within a huge south Indian Brahmin family.

Jealous successful husband of a bank employee who has grouped her memories including few unspoken truths about the large family with passages from an unknown out-of-print book to literary acclaim- she must now face the possibilities. The angst of the relatives known and unknown who believe she has taken advantage of her. Her father to whom Kaveri the devoted daughter has always been trying to please and live a life which is guided by traditions and what is right.

Kaveri is a woman caught in the act of indecisiveness and noncommittal space of her life. The love of an admiring lover, the secret admiration of a cousin and the haunting memories of past where she was the only safe child from the patriarch of the family – but for someone catching the similarities between her acclaimed book and the old out-of-print book- things would have been fine.

This is the story of her conflict and the way she lives with them. There is a huge arena created within the family of cousins and near-one, one-upmanship, jealousy, love and hatred all in a soup that is her life.

Unfortunately every incident that together creates the story is laboriously built. In anticipation of the reader’s reaction her writing is cautious to the level of being a virgin. There are expanses where you do not know where the whole thing is building for. You do not pity the character- love or hate them. Yet you envy the lover when the love making is so unconditional surrender.  FALLOUT is not in my list of recommendation.

Fresh from the movie. Finished the show at 6 PM. And decided that this to be review I would do immediately.

First thing first. 3 Idiot is a movie you will enjoy watching. Do not think of getting up- when for few moments the director loses the grasp and you question the rains. Hold on it immediately comes back on to the track. I would give it 3.5 / 5 and not the 4.5 star that few newspapers have given.

Pants down- hands up- high five and run to the cash register.  The movie is bound to do good.  And I can see that Chetan next book- Story of 2 states being picked up for film.

Take your kids if you have been not able to explain how the kids are delivered.

The movie is peppy, well paced and an outright entertainer. There are under-currents of statements being made even when you are smiling through the brilliance of comedy scenes. set mostly in the college – and half in the quest of searching for the Lost friend- last seen on the graduation day.

3 IDIOTS makes more sense than a lot of lectures I attended. It is a story of conflicting ideology and attitude. It only tells you to follow what your heart wants to INDULGE in.

Aamir Khan , Madhan & Sharman Joshi shares the screen space in 3 Idiots’  and in all reference to the movie people are forgetting Chatur - The want to to be the best student- the person who epitomizes the current system and materialistic goals– OMI who has worked brilliantly within the tight confines of his brief and

Boman Irani- who makes a wonderful dean of the college. A huge round of applause is actually due to him. He has been able to play so many stereotyped characters deep with reality that in him we are always able to see someone we know . The hair style- the slow hard push of the pedal- the pen that is cherrished and carried along proudly- the high waisted triusers always white- the ego and competitiveness he shares even with the students- well its all so real.

Oh yes there is Bebo - Karena- who walks through a character in familiar terrain. But how come no one talked of the kiss Karena and Aamir share on screen. And yes I must agree the kiss though not integral part of the movie builds up in patches and when it does come- you do not feel any awckwardness. Crazy- thats the way directors should build on the story.

Rancho a character played by Aamir is brought to life just by him; I can not see anyone else fitting into that. He looks behave and never allows you to doubt that he is far older than what the role demands. Sharman as Raju Rastogi is a great artist whenever you need a bit underplaying of the scenes. But someday I will want to see him cast as a spoilt brat and a rich kid. Madhavan as Frahan Qureshi still in RDB mode walks through the film. His specs which may be a disadvantage for him has made him the complete person. Somewhere the eyes emote better through the glasses.

Everyone of us can relate with the realism in the film. The frienship between room-mates. The conflict. Beating each other when angry and at the next hugging with tears of joy. A prof with a daughter that always made you wonder where did she get the genes from. A hiding place- like the water tank. A Hostel Mumdu who is the mole in administration. A class where every one laughs when someone else is the focus of ridicule.

It is said that ‘3 Idiots’ is based on the book ‘Five Point Something’ ‘written by ‘Chetan Bhagat’ . Well I think there is so much of change that we should say- it is inspired by the book. Though there are few scenes which are from the book ,the characters are far more etched out. Once again demonstrate that a book and a film need to be treated differently. I like the way one of the important fact of book- suicide by the deans son- is not made a focal point and is neither brushed aside. It is a serious matter treated with respect.

Other than that ‘Aal is well’ and ‘zoobi zoobi’ the songs unnecessarily delays the pleasure of watching a well knit movie. A shorter crisper movie was possible without the songs but then that would have gone against the grain of common movie marketing wisdom. Oh because it’s a movie and audience always need explanation - there are few off track situations slightly farfetched though not impossible scenario’s. Hey just forget that and just enjoy the movie.

Seeing the movie- and going through the longest child delivery scene with web cam - distant doctor - rainy day - vacuum cleaner - suction and even a flip chart - you know why it was a U/A certification. I would hope that the media- clarifies in such cases why the U/A certificate is given. It was a bit awkward to see it with kids. Do you think this and the shot of sitting at the edge of the water tank should not come with a warning ‘This scene has been faked by well established actors, please do not try to recreate’.

At the same time the movie does make a few statement on education- pressure- choices and what it should be. It try differentiating between well trained and well educated, it pushes for one to follow his heart.

‘Aall is well’ is well. Reliance has used the slogan beautifully but a host of other brand relationships have just remained as the logo at the start.

For me the view of shimla, the lake at ladhak, the hostel from IIM Bangalore, the streets at Connaught - all were mixed in memories. It made the movie experience that much better.

Bhaktiyaar was not ready for the spin that Big Boss bowled out. Truely speaking neither was I. I was thinking how and when and what way will Big Boss reduce the foursum to three. And here he comes in as a special twist that was all in one- Dus Ka Dum- Sach Ka Samana- Ish Jungle sey Mujhey bachaoo and a lot more. The chicken hearted Bhaktiyar still hiding behind the family is so important facade takes what was a good decision.

Once he has talked of sharing and 3% of the win post tax and TDS- he got more than that on this Dus Ka Dum. He was never going to be the winner as he himself was not confident.

Pravesh- still after playing the child that you hate to love and a mature person and once again a tryant - has infact increased his chance. Poonam and Vindu still playing Public to decide are not pushing enough for the public to vote. Who votes- I just voted once and I do not know of anyone else who votes.

Now the pecking order seems totally even- all three are strong and yet Poonam is the weakest. May for all the woman power she wins. I have tuned off and this year it does not really matter who wins.  And yet I will be on train waiting for the SMS that will tell me who won

Celebrating a milestone is involuntary reflex action. The wait starts well in advance, anticipation of it adding to the anxiety. Many a disappointments make the final milestone something to celebrate. The feeling is high with anything to do with the number 100.

Truth is, we do not or rather cannot celebrate each & every incidence we can claim to have done 100 of timesJ. We have to be selective to chose the act qualifying as something worthy of celebration.

So, we celebrate 100% performance, 100th birthday / anniversaries, 100th day in office, question 100 days in Power, top 100 across fields, 100 years of a city, 100th run, 100 day of a movie, 100th show, 100% pure (as if there is something called 99% pure), 100 anniversary of a tomato plant (Lamington’s Heinz plant) or even 100th edition of a magazine.

Surprisingly 101 or even 199th does not have the share the same level of excitement.  Why are we so bottled with 100?

My take; number 100 becomes significant when it is a documented. When it takes skill, talent, efforts, passions, time and energy is required in reaching that milestone.  The pleasure increases with the difficulty of reaching the milestone.

It struck me a few days back, soon I would be writing my 100th blog. (Clap). I have a reason to celebrate and indulge in self congratulations. Better if you readers can participate and write back their comments. This is a pure selfish reflection of self-acclaimed glory.

I realized it was foolish to search for something really special for the 100th blog. Nothing better than the self evaluation and focusing on performance. I do have data to evaluate my performance as a blogger (they say statistics is like a bikini – it’s not important what it shows but interesting what it hides- or something like that). Maybe I will hide behind them when the trick becomes tough.

So what does that data says.

Since the first blog on this site ‘IIM to Ganjdundwara, Rohithari Rajan , IIM Alumuni’, a book review on 21 December 2008. Many more pages have been created. A lot of comments have poured in showing me there were few in this densely populated planets who find time- energy and excitement in reading what I write. I am deeply indebted to my readers.

In next 3 months before the close of the financial year 2008-2009 some 30 more blogs were flashed. Since April 2009, 69 entries made to the blog in last 9 months (Interesting numbers ). Decent rate of 9.6 blogs a month !.

I started using Google analytics to track my blog - 0n 8th Sept. 2009.

just 100 days back (they are calculated dates) , in that period  35 entries - a huge surge to a blog every 2.85 days.

The track shows, there has been 2642 page views with 1089 readers average 2:43 pages and 4:39 minutes as per visit data. 33% are directed from reference site, 34% from search engines and rest are the direct hits (meaning people who were pushed by me to directly reach the URL).

Thank you readers. I am still surprised at how many of you are willing to write me e-mails or send me SMS but for some unknown reason stop short of writing a comment on the blog. I urge you to so, Now and every time you find something interesting or something you hate.

I am really not surprised with the entries that get the maximum hits.

  1. SAVITA BHABHI
  2. IJSMB- Bikini show
  3. Natalie Dylan : VIRGIN AUCTION: MY BID
  4. Chetan Bhagat: 2 states
  5. Management lessons from Chandni Chowck to china

Now that I have 100 blogs,

I am proud to present my top 8 blogs I liked writing. 5 would have hurt my ego and 10 would have been too much. I would do top 10 when I hit 150 blogs..

  1. Kaifed a feeling : How do you feel when your performance is repeatedly ignored
  2. Sidhu pajji of English Journalism How bad journalism can play spoil sport to perfect reading pleasure
  3. Savita Bhabhi Take on the Indian Pornography site and its ban by the government
  4. Mitch Albom: Tuesday with Morrie : A book I think everyone must read
  5. Teen DEVI- Understanding working women: My take on the women I have worked with
  6. TIGER TALES :
  7. Why we avoid writing comments
  8. ESCAPE BLAST FROM THE PAST
  9. KIDS INTERACTION WITH PETS

The truth is that I started this as the 100th blog, but the external factors like new developments on Big Boss, New movie that must be reviewed, a book just finished and Tiger Woods ensured that it was not factually the 100th Blog.

Big Boss is now a below par show on audience expectations. The analgesic anaesthetic careful dance of the participants around the frail egos at the fragile end of tolerance - seems that it’s on auto-pilot. There is no voyeuristic fun for the audience. Nothing happening that will make them wonder and talk about.

With Claudia exit romance and sexuality has disappeared. I must compliment Claudia the way she played the game. She stuck to her stance of not-fully exploiting her prime assets to advantage unlike Pyal’s, Sadbhavna’s and Rakhi’s of the world. Is there something that Pravesh family would find tough to digest? Maybe  I am reading too much into nothing.

Pravesh entered finals on his own strength with a wee bit of help from Claudia. He is front runner. Advice to him is to live peacefully with no further fights; smart dressing and clean shaved looks will make his chances strong. He is unnecessarily trying the strategy of probing participants past and reactions, willingly opening the box of memories and expecting some drama that will enhance his chance of winning. It’s a negative strategy that can seriously mar his chances.

Vindu for a change doubts his win. He continues to bore us with his nonsensical logic based rambling and his respect for Desh Ka Adesh. He is next in line. He will be shattered if he fails to win but is bound to accept Desh Ka Adesh.

Poonam has changed. Since 3 weeks showing her dormant side. She is a choosy, snobbish participant just managing to retain her wits. She is playing the old – sensible - above - all such acts role and it has been working for her. Maybe her dream of a woman winning this show is shattered. (You never know till the end – but that’s my read).

Bhaktiyaar the joker in the pack claims he has grown up. For the audience he remains the same spineless threatening mock-tail of ill-placed emotions. He is on guard as he smells possibility of a upset. His self-doubts are apparent in his talk of sharing the booty.

Big Boss plays the game fair and dirty to suit its own need.

Big Boss decision to show Bhaktiyar’s ugly side of his interaction with Tenaaz seems a ploy for ensuring that Bhaktiyar loses.

The grenade was never in Claudia hands, who would have naturally blasted Vindu, but Vindu played that on Bhaktiyar.

Advantage  Vindu seeing all the participants and their behaviour from the secret room..

Truth is that the game requires flamboyant – attractive - sexually charged guys like Pravesh to win. And as none of us have any way to certify the votes, the channel that has hoodwinked you; asking the celebrity you would wish in the house and the common man who will be wild card ( common man does not have a agent- like Pravesh has and neither does he workout in high profile gym) will most likely declare PRAVESH the winner.

Amitabh was charming at the start and a draw that held the show together. But his attempt at humour (very ill written single liners) and the ‘Subhmangalam  Subharrambh Shubhashish” at the start is a letdown. I would for this show ( in-spite of my personally liking the films AB is doing now days ) would take Arshad Warsi any day. He was you - your face there - your representative who somehow pulled you together and played with the participants. His glee and sparkling eyes said another level of story. With Amitabh with of all his genuine attempts to be near us the viewers is not our representative, not one we could accept in our inner circle as he will be a misfit and is a misfit. Just being a high paid celebrity is no reason for success as a host of a programme as Big Boss. His entry in home through the TV is a play of power with me and not- aab kiski lagegi.

I know I will not be watching the final on 26th because I will be travelling.  It’s not the same reading it in newspapers so above is my take on the show. More so I have missed a lot many episodes this year with the IPO of the organisation I work for justified in taking a lot of my time.   It can be said that I am immune to the final result.

THIS IS NOT MY CONTRIBUTION. ITS BEAUTIFUL AND HENCE THOUGHT SHARING WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS I CAN. ITS CONTRIBUTED BY PRANAV MISHRA.

As a serving army officer, I never stop marvelling at the gullibility of our countrymen to be provoked with alacrity into virulence in the name of religion. I have never heard the word ’secular’ during all my service — and yet, the simple things that are done simply in the army make it appear like an island of sanity in a sea of hatred.

In the army, each officer identifies with the religion of his troops. In regiments where the soldiers are from more than one religion, the officers — and indeed all jawans attend the weekly religious prayers of all the faiths. How many times have I trooped out of the battalion mandir and, having worn my shoes, entered the battalion church next door? A few years ago it all became simpler — mandirs, masjids, gurudwars and churches began to share premises all over the army. It saved us the walk.

Perhaps it is so because the army genuinely believes in two central ‘truths’ — oneness of God and Victory in operations. Both are so sacred we cannot nitpick and question the basics.

In fact, sometimes the army mixes up the two! On a visit to the holy cave at Amarnath a few years ago I saw a plaque mounted on the side of the hill by a battalion that had once guarded the annual Yatra. It said, ‘Best wishes from -….- battalion. Deployed for Operation Amarnath.

On another instance, I remember a commanding officer ordered the battalion maulaviji to conduct the proceedings of Janamashtmi prayers because the panditji had to proceed on leave on compassionate grounds. No eyebrows were raised. It was the most rousing and best-prepared sermon on Lord Krishna I have ever had the pleasure of listening to.

On the Line of Control, a company of Khemkhani Muslim soldiers replaced a Dogra battalion. Over the next few days, the post was shelled heavily by Pakistanis, and there were a few non-fatal casualties.

One day, the junior commissioned officer of the company, Subedar Sarwar Khan walked up to the company commander Major Sharma and said, “Sahib, ever since the Dogras left, the mandir has been shut. Why don’t you open it once every evening and do aarti? Why are we displeasing the Gods?”

Major Sharma shamefacedly confessed he did not know all the words of the aarti. Subedar Sarwar went away and that night, huddled over the radio set under a weak lantern light, painstakingly took down the words of the aarti from the post of another battalion!

How many of us know that along the entire border with Pakistan, our troops abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian food on all Thursdays? The reason: It is called the Peer day — essentially a day of religious significance for the Muslims.

In 1984, after Operation Bluestar there was anguish in the Sikh community over the desecration of the holiest of their shrines. Some of this anger and hurt was visible in the army too.

I remember the first Sikh festival days after the event — the number of army personnel of every religious denomination that thronged the regimental gurudwara of the nearest Sikh battalion was the largest I had seen. I distinctly remember each officer and soldier who put his forehead to the ground to pay obeisance appeared to linger just a wee bit longer than usual. Was I imagining this? I do not think so. There was that empathy and caring implicit in the quality of the gesture that appeared to say, “You are hurt and we all understand.”

We were deployed on the Line of Control those days. Soon after the news of disaffection among a small section of Sikh troops was broadcast on the BBC, Pakistani troops deployed opposite the Sikh battalion yelled across to express their ’solidarity’ with the Sikhs.

The Sikh havildar shouted back that the Pakistanis had better not harbour any wrong notions. “If you dare move towards this post, we will mow you down.”

Finally, a real — and true — gem….

Two boys of a Sikh regiment battalion were overheard discussing this a day before Christmas.

“Why are we having a holiday tomorrow?” asked Sepoy Singh.

“It is Christmas,” replied the wiser Naik Singh.

“But what is Christmas?”

“Christmas,” replied Naik Singh, with his eyes half shut in reverence and hands in a spontaneous prayer-clasp, “is the guruparb of the Christians.”

Seriously I did not intend to even offer TIGER saga any space on my Blog. No- I do not have any moralistic issues but I just want to leave the person alone. He is already suffering enough for in total some hours of pleasure. How unlucky to be caught. Maybe he was spreading his risk or in worst case scenario leaving traces.

Tiger caught out of woods and already 11 hole birdie scorecard is out. Maybe he will play the whole course. To save his marriage Tiger is taking an indefinite rest from Golf ‘May his club rest in peace. And the balls be sparred a bit of putting’

Jokes aside, that’s the worst decision he has taken. Inn past he has been  uncontrollably hungry.  Hunger 4 finger bellow the belly button.

If we look at the history, people have pardoned if one continues to excel in his core strength. But  for him, his fans occupying a very low priority and the family comes first. Like most of the males he just wants to come out of this with just a yellow card.

WHAT WAS MORE SURPRISING

‘Tiger tales spilling out of woods’ or ‘how the hell he kept all this secret for so long’. Trade secrets I would believe. Somewhere behind all rich, famous and powerful men there is always   a trail of stories. I find that natural.  Surprisingly the obtrusive media did not catch this for so long.

ON THE SIDE

Tiger is being questioned for his taste in fair sex. Why can’t someone who calls himself Black, is willing to have affair within the community. As per the last count  his affairs are with non-black females. I don’t think there will be any black female in his harem

IN NEAR FUTURE

Maybe some government and other celeb learn a few lesions in covert operations. I am sure somewhere in near future we will have-;

Book : TIGER TALES.

Management analysis – How the tiger was caught by the tail.

Tiger autobiography: Just short of the 18th hole

Management guru speak- Seven habits of polygamous man

Yes - no series: How to do without being caught

Motivational book- You can play a birdie too

Moralistic courses : Better a hole-in-one

And maybe no spouse would ask hubby to be tiger in bed

No father will ask his son- to be dedicated, focused and winner like tiger

POWER, FAME AND MONEY

Intoxicating cocktail makes anyone go high. Opportunities spread themselves at every turn. It’s natural for the adventurous sportsman to sooner or later stray. They say it’s ok to steal but is curse to be caught. I am not propagating this behavior but if you must- it pays to be cautious.

INFORMATION AGE IS A CURSE

Digital signature, mobile tracks are a minefield and it is increasingly difficult to remain unaffected by the rumor tremors.  It is easier for the rumors to be substantiated and proofs to be gathered. Getting your 2 minutes of pleasure (or did someone said Eleven Minutes) for the fire and the risk associated with it.

Communication is the key to the final realization. Verbal communication is not always possible- sign language is tough to master and at times really vulgar. Written words- e-mails- late night conversations- sms etc are part of the trade and they are risky. Technology will advance and soon there will be ways to send message without leaving a track.

If there was a way to track, I would presume that many a fingers were busy deleting the messages from the in-and-out-boxes, new email ID’s were opened in last few days. Password protection programmes were bought- thanks to tiger and his impact on economy.

EAT AT HOME.

I had a friend in an advertising agencies. He was heavy consumer of legal pornography. And he indulged in his harmless pleasure even in office. Though there was a lady who rightly found this behavior  highly objectionable.

One day while my friend was ogling through the net worth in the center-spread of playboy admiring the top-line, she came and questioned him. He replied. “Dear how does it matter where I get the appetite from till I eat at home”?

I think that is where the mantra lies, opportunities and all such things that flung themselves should be taken as an appetizer and person must eat just at home. Tiger decided that appetizers were the main course and he is paying the price.

Legally he has done nothing wrong.

Emotionally he hurt someone and morally he left the high ground that he was walking. The truth is for one of them is getting exposed there are a lot many who become cautious. The trails like always will run cold after sometime. Maybe in his case it will take longer.

PROTECTION !.

One of the things that really upset most of the people was Tiger going unprotected in the act. Risking passing the code to his wife. That’s not done. But passionate moments at times make a person blind to logic.  If not for others, self interest should prompt a pleasure drive with protection. And here I think the females have the equal risk, right and the responsibility.

IS MAN ONLY TO BE BLAMED?

Maybe male is taken as an aggressor of the two sexes and in this case the one who could easily deny the opportunity. I find it unimaginable that if the opportunities arise and the person is sure (like tiger would have been ) that he is safe and nothing will be known- the male will not  succumb to the temptation.

Male is genetically coded and a through generation. The tally mark system of macho calibration by the number of women bedded has not helped the case. Women for them have been the trophies , and a collection boost the ego.

THE ROLE OF THE FAIRER SEX?

The true bees attracted to the power of media attention. The affairs have been long and all of them kept it under wraps, but once the story was out- you find a list not wanting to let the opportunity go by.

Jumping from one studio to another, picture taken by hordes of newsmen, putting flat up for sale where the romp session happened, maybe a book deal.

Do we question the right and the need for the women who indulged in the act for pleasure or gain? They did that very knowingly and if they are so frank and open about it- there is nothing that is at risk at their end.

PHYSICAL VS MENTAL INFIEDILITY!:

One- night stands are far better than a life time of dreams. That’s my point of view. It is better to stray and close the chapter than keeping that hunting your dreamland. The problem is once the person has tasted this fun- pleasure of one-night (in some cases one-closet or one-stairs) stand, it is natural to have the second and the third. Tiger case is the same.

Understand the courage and the pressure of simultaneously maneuvering through a set of these trophy hunting females. There was nothing emotional from their side and seems not even from tiger side. But it’s his wife who has to decide if she wishes to live the rest of her life with him.

WHAT MAKES THEM DO IT.

Opportunity alone may not be the reason. Betrayal – does not sound fine. Loneliness coupled with heightened adulation,  no one to share the bed, peak of winning tournament that creates additional hunger needing sexual release of the trapped energies. Mastering and wanting to conquer.

Whatever it maybe it will always remain a combination, a combination that has different significance for each. Loneliness, Opportunity, Safety, feeling of immortality, excitement of doing something not acceptable, revenge and such things all mix up to create the volcano of desire. At that stage do you need any emotional attachment is really questionable.

So, I would believe that in a married life, it is equally the responsibility of both to keep the other in sync with realities and not to stray. Don’t crucify and hold one totally responsible for moment of weakness (even if they are moment (s)).

POINT OF DIFFERENCE

Some one calls these affairs a minor Bip in the career graph. Nike stands by the ambassador and others are slowly coming in grip of situation. Accenture used the famed ‘Be a Tiger’ Campaign finds the behavior inappropriate

LOOK WITHIN.

Just a question; what are the chances that this story is not being played in your own courtyard. No-No you need not to  be suspicious of every call message and late working in office. Unplanned travels etc but what the harm in being cautious. Truth is for all ( celeb or otherwise ) finally are left to fight their own battle.

SO THE LIST ( the alleged list as per media reports - with whom Tiger has been a rabbit in bed- sex- cheating with pleasure)

Maybe there is truth in ‘A lot can happen over coffee’ Cheating partners is a rampant games males and females play. Males are a bit more open about them. Females more secretive as they tend to lose more even in the most open of the society, At the same time females are more prone to open their mouth when money or fame is on the cards. We making a hue and cry as it is Tiger.
